SUUKUR: President Asif Ali Zardari announced that the Pakistan government has successfully generated funds by trading carbon credits in the international market to improve a major irrigation project in Sindh. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Sukkur Campus of Dr. Ziauddin Hospital, President Zardari emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing the socio-economic well-being of the nation.
In his address, President Zardari highlighted that the Rohri Canal is being lined from its beginning, with an annual expenditure of Rs15 billion. “The funds generated from the trading of carbon credits in the international market are being used for the lining of the Rohri Canal project,” he stated.
The inauguration of the state-of-the-art hospital was termed a transformative moment for Sukkur by President Zardari. He noted that the facility would provide quality healthcare services to the people of Sukkur and its surrounding areas. President Zardari also mentioned his personal involvement in encouraging the Ziauddin Hospital management to invest in Sukkur and highlighted the need for such initiatives to uplift healthcare standards in underserved areas.
President Zardari revealed that he had donated his personal land for Dr. Ziauddin Hospital’s campus in Hyderabad and announced that the Government of Sindh would bear the expenses for establishing a university at the Ziauddin Hospital Sukkur Campus. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the people of Pakistan have access to quality medical care.
Praising Dr. Asim Hussain and the Ziauddin Hospital management, President Zardari acknowledged their efforts in establishing a facility equipped with cutting-edge technology and a team of highly-skilled professionals. “The hospital exemplifies Dr. Asim Hussain and his family’s unwavering commitment to providing quality healthcare services to the people,” he said.
