Tribute to Benazir Bhutto on Her 17th Death Anniversary

Today marks the 17th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, a day observed with reverence across Pakistan. The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has organized a significant event at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh to honor her memory. A large public meeting is set to take place, with a grand stage prepared for the top leadership of the PPP, and the venue adorned with party flags and posters of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, President Asif Ali Zardari, and other central and provincial leaders will address the gathering. Asifa Bhutto Zardari, Faryal Talpur, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, and Governor KP Faisal Karim Kundi are among the prominent figures who have arrived at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh. Stringent security measures have been implemented, with thousands of policemen deployed to maintain law and order. Entry to the Mazar of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto will be through walk-through gates and metal detectors.

Benazir Bhutto, born on June 21, 1953, in Karachi, was the daughter of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, the founder of PPP, and Begum Nusrat Bhutto. She was the eldest of four children. On December 27, 2007, Benazir Bhutto was tragically assassinated in Rawalpindi after addressing a massive public meeting at Liaquat Bagh. Her legacy as a leader who fought for democracy and the rights of the people of Pakistan continues to inspire many.

Today, as we remember Benazir Bhutto, we pay tribute to her enduring contributions to Pakistan’s political landscape and her unwavering commitment to the principles of democracy and social justice.
