Islamabad, July 9, 2024 – President Asif Ali Zardari has put forward ambitious plans to enhance Pakistan’s agricultural sector. Here are the key points:
President Zardari aims to establish a ‘State Land Bank’ to optimize government-owned land by attracting international funding. The goal is to utilize these lands productively for sustainable development.
The president directed the completion of the Kachhi Canal within 18 months.
Six strategic canals, including Chashma Right Bank Canal, Kachhi Canal, and others, will enhance Pakistan’s agricultural potential. These canals aim to increase cultivable areas and boost livestock and fisheries sectors.
President Zardari emphasizes concrete lining for canals to prevent water seepage. He also proposes promoting drip irrigation in barren areas near the canals.
This canal will irrigate approximately 713,000 acres of land in Balochistan, benefiting local communities.
