KARACHI: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has highlighted the importance of politics and culture in defining the strength of a nation. Speaking at a special ceremony in the Sindh Assembly, Bilawal underscored that true national strength lies not in military might but in the unity and cultural heritage of its people.
Bilawal praised the historic role of the Sindh Assembly in the creation of Pakistan, emphasizing that the nation’s foundation was built through collective effort and peaceful struggle. He stated, “Nations are not built by a single individual or force but through unity and hard work. Politics has always played a crucial role in this process.”
He further stressed the significance of cultural roots, noting that nations that forget their heritage lose their identity. “Pakistan has a rich and ancient history, and we take pride in being the heirs of the Indus Valley civilization,” he said. Bilawal highlighted the contributions of the people of this land to agriculture, irrigation, and modern life, with historical sites in Larkana standing as testament to this heritage.
Addressing the current challenges faced by Pakistan, Bilawal called for unity and the promotion of cultural values to overcome them. He emphasized that true power lies in embracing cultural and political values, warning that division and neglect of these aspects could hinder progress.
Bilawal also advocated for greater efforts to promote Pakistani culture, entertainment, and art. He pointed out that Western countries have become superpowers not just through military might but by promoting their culture and using soft power to win hearts and minds. He lamented that had the vision of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto been followed, Pakistani films, music, and art might have gained international recognition similar to Western countries.
Supporting the establishment of a media university in Karachi, Bilawal instructed Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to expedite the project under a public-private partnership. He emphasized the need for modern facilities to enable the youth to represent Pakistan on global platforms.
Bilawal urged politicians, cultural representatives, and citizens from all regions to work diligently for the country’s development, emphasizing that true strength lies in unity and cultural heritage.
