President Zardari Advocates for Eastern Collaboration through China’s Global Development Initiative

ISLAMABAD – President Asif Ali Zardari has called for collaborative efforts among Eastern nations to ensure sustainable development and shared prosperity through China’s Global Development Initiative (GDI). Speaking at the 2nd High-level Meeting of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development in Beijing, organized by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), President Zardari highlighted the GDI’s potential to positively shape global futures.

He emphasized the importance of developing countries taking a leading role in global development, aligning with the unique challenges and opportunities faced by Eastern nations. President Zardari expressed his eagerness for President Xi Jinping and China to lead the GDI, supporting the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

China aims to enhance the GDI through global partnerships, resource mobilization, and capacity building. A recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between China and Pakistan covers areas such as poverty reduction, cultural exchanges, and human resource development.
